Gene drive governance for climate adaptation and conservation

Investigating global governance frameworks

Project goals

This project is a QUEX partnership drawing together a team of researchers from the University of Queensland and the University of Exeter to understand the governance challenges associated with the movement of gene drive into the conservation and environmental domain.

What we are doing

We are conducting documentary research and holding exploratory workshops to identify case studies where gene drive technology might address climate adaptation and conservation needs in Australia and the UK, and the governance architecture needed. We are also examining the treatment of gene drive at the Convention on Biological Diversity.
